Published on December 07, 2020
The Quebec Anglophone Heritage Network awarded a $3,000 grant to the group ‘Cantley 1889’. The money will be used to purchase and install a commemorative plaque at Blackburn Cemetery to raise awareness about the site’s historical significance.
Members of the pioneer cemetery committee in Cantley stand inside the Blackburn family burial ground, situated in the Gatineau River valley. With support from the Belonging initiative, the local history group, Cantley 1889, is going to erect a historical marker here to promote awareness of the community's early settlement history.
