December Update - You Are Here: A Next Gen Approach to Promoting ESQ’s Heritage

Honlee Hobbs, the Youth Cultural Ambassador for the North Shore, had a busy few weeks of outreach and planning for Y4Y Quebec’s successful event, You are Here: An Exploration of English-Speakers’ Heritage, Culture and Communities in Quebec, which took place on December 17. After the event, Honlee followed-up with the MRC du Golfe-du-Saint-Laurent to schedule a meeting to discuss Y4Y Québec and its activities. Honlee and Emma McGinnis (Gaspé-les-Iles Youth Cultural Ambassador) were also contacted by the secretary of an elementary school, who attended the event, to participate in Zoom sessions with students to talk to them about the Y4Y Québec North Shore and Gaspé-les-Iles regional chapters. What exciting feedback and follow up from the event!
Danika Lambert, the Youth Cultural Ambassador for the Eastern Townships was also very happy with the outcome of the event! The Eastern Townships community representatives she reached out to were enthusiastic during the discussions. Danika has already started organizing her next event and has contacted a high school vice president from the region for collaboration.
Michael Golveo, the Québec City Youth Cultural Ambassador, has been reaching out to high schools to spread the word about Y4Y Québec and its activities, and Holly Campbell the Outaouais cultural ambassador is proud of the positive feedback she received from the You are Here: An Exploration of English-Speakers’ Heritage, Culture and Communities in Quebec event. The individuals she invited to the event all participated and enjoyed it!
