Announcing COM-Unity's Year 3 Partners and Projects

Published on June 14, 2022

We are pleased to announce that the COM-Unity project is now heading into its third year and bringing with it a new partner organization and an exciting roster of projects aimed at exploring, celebrating and sharing the stories that reflect English-speaking communities and build a strong sense of identification with Quebec.

Our new Year 3 partner is the Blue Metropolis Foundation, a literary organization that hosts the renowned Blue Metropolis Literary Festival every spring, as well as arts and social programs year-round. COM-Unity is delighted to have Blue Metropolis on board for their incredible work fostering a bilingual literary arts culture in Quebec. Their COM-Unity project for the coming year, “NEXT”, aims to support the next generation of Quebec’s English-speaking literary artists and community leaders with networking opportunities, showcases and skill-development activities.

We are also looking forward to the Year 3 projects from our Year 1 and 2 partners:

The Black Community Resource Centre will recruit 5 English-speaking Black youth to create a new 5-episode animated series based on a book written by BCRC youth; the English Language Arts Network will dig deeper into intimate portraits of language and identity in Quebec for a new, one hour documentary; LEARN will continue its successful “I Belong” project into a third year, fostering a sense of belonging via programming geared towards English-speaking students in schools across the province; the Quebec Anglophone Heritage Network will continue investing in local heritage initiatives that engage members of Quebec’s Anglophone communities, fostering their sense of identity and belonging; Youth4Youth and their Youth Cultural Ambassadors will return to different Quebec regions to further investigate how to better connect English-speaking youth to the province they call home; and Seniors Action Quebec will see the development of a 30-minute documentary on what “belonging” means to English-speaking seniors across Quebec.

And stay tuned for our upcoming blog series for Year 3, “In the Right Place”, where our partner organizations will share their insights on the intersections of geography and belonging…
