The COM-Unity Project: Not goodbye but see you later!

Over the past five months, the very first edition of COM-Unity showcased community in the truest sense of the word. The six project partners presented projects that were inspiring, educational, moving and often a lot of fun! Launching a new community initiative in the middle of a global pandemic is no easy feat! The partners had to adapt to the “new normal” and responded with creativity and innovation, staying true to the original goal — to come together and highlight and amplify a sense of belonging for English-speakers in Quebec, transforming the way that we see our communities.

Waves of Change

ELAN has released a sneak peek of their Waves of Change: a story beyond language project (formally known as SELFIES). The series of short documentaries about identity and belonging in Quebec’s English-speaking communities feature participants in five discussion groups based on different waves of immigration. Immigrants have been a part of Quebec's history for centuries, with multiple generations of people coming from all over the world to create a new life. The stories captured in the Waves of Change project shed a light on the immigrant experience in Quebec from the past until today.

New Year, New Events

COM-Unity project partners have started the New Year off with a bang thanks to a line-up of fun, educational and thought-provoking programming with something for everyone! Even as the pandemic continues to change what is possible and we can’t physically gather together, we’ve learned how important it is to feel that we belong to a community, and to continue to build and strengthen that community. The events from our project partners do just that.
